Rye Country Day School Security Officer in Rye, New York
Rye Country Day School is seeking a Security Officer beginning August 2024. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. This position is paid hourly. Specific responsibilities of the position include:
Follow site-specific post orders and other instructions provided by the Supervisor or Manager
Traffic control and direction
Diligently observe, immediately respond to, and accurately document all scenarios, actions, conditions, or incidents regarding the general safety and security of the facility, its employees, parents/students, and visitors
Respond to suspicious incidents and document the incident consistent RCDS procedures on writing incident reports
Monitor, respond and investigate all alarm conditions fire/life/safety
Take a role in fire, life, safety Emergency Response team and assist during fire drills
Be a good listener, proactive, resourceful and anticipates the need of visitors, parents/students, and on-site staff
Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in high pressure situations
Work independently, as well as part of a team, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity
Be physically able to stand or walk for long periods of time and some lifting required
Other duties as assigned
Desired qualifications:
Previous professional law enforcement experience is preferred
Must have a strong work ethic, dependability, and be highly accountable and responsible
Must be highly organized, able to multitask, and work under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Self-motivated and shows initiative
Flexible and have highest ethical and professional conduct, integrity, and able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
Maintain knowledge of appropriate federal, state, and local statutes and ordinances, as well as regulatory requirements as it relates to your job function
High School Diploma/GED required. State Security Office License a plus but not required and/or meet qualifications to complete state required Security Officer Registrations
One (1) year of previous Security experience preferred
Be able to obtain First Aid/CPR training where applicable
